Mystery shopper/ movie extra jobs = scam?

While job hunting I come across many ads looking for people to be mystery shoppers, movie extras, video game testers etc.... these jobs seem very cool but how exactly does this work? when you call do they ask for money? anyone have any experience doing this... I dont know it all just seems very flaky to me
