If I just take more iodine will that correct my slightly underactive thyroid?
Usually not, but a rare few have reversed the condition. I am hypothyroid and on thyroid medication and also taking iodine. I first got my thyroid levels correct and then added a small amount of iodine (6.25mg) Since adding the iodine 2 months ago I have so much more energy, but I still need the thyroid medication. Many of us are iodine deficient as evidenced by testing. Our diets prior to the 1980's had much more iodine in it. Bread was conditioned with iodine, so if you ae bread, you got iodine. That all chnged in the 1980's. I have talked to a few people who iodine makes them feel worse, so its not for everyone.
