How did Arabia's geographic location lead to the growth of ancient cities?

I would say that the river valleys around the Tigris and Euphrates rivers were pretty much the only "major" reason for cities growing in the "Fertile Crescent" region. Having a plentiful localized food supply enabled them to support a growing population in a static location; just like the ancient Egyptians along the Nile.
